Before we begin, let’s get one important piece of business out of the way. A barrel is not built. A barrel is not made. A barrel is raised. It’s a skilled tradecraft that is passed down from one generation of master coopers to the next.
Since 1945, our American white oak barrels have been raised by hand at the Brown-Forman Cooperage, in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Our select barrel wood undergoes a proprietary toasting process to unlock deep, complex flavors. Our barrels are then raised by our coopers and receive a medium char on the inside. Finally, each and every barrel must pass the inspection of our master coopers before making its way to the distillery
THE BARREL CONTRIBUTES 100% OF THE COLOR
& 50% OF THE FLAVOR OF OUR BOURBON
